Underwear
So earlier this week Amy, our sitter, decided to put Thomas and her son Michael in underwear to attempt some potty training. Guess what happened?.....Thomas peed in his, of course! We've even told Thomas that we will go to Red Robin if he poops in the potty and that's still not doing it. Oh well, such is life!

Oh no!
Thomas is talking up a storm these days and it's great! Some of my favorite things he is saying are "Oh No!" and "Oh Yeah!". He is now able to communicate most of his needs and wants with sentences. For instance I had sat a paper bag on the counter with his Easter basket in it and he accidently got a peak. After I sat him back on the floor he told Travis he wanted back up on the counter. Travis asked him why he needed up and he said "Thomas need to see somsing (something) in the bag!" It was adorable!
He also likes to "tickle the baby" in mama's belly:)

Thomas' 3rd Birthday!!!
To celbrate our big boys 3rd Birthday we decided to throw a little party at Chuck E Cheese's for him. He had never been there before so really had no idea what to expect but he was still really excited about it anyway! He knew there would be games to play and that "Thomas' friends" would be there.
We ended up with about 8 kids and 12 adults and it was great! Thomas had the time of his life playing games and playing with his friends. Overall, it was a huge success. Here are some of my pics from the festivities:

Swim Lessons
Last week was Thomas' first swim lesson! We're doing it at a hotel here in town that has a water park and does lessons when the park isn't open. His first lesson was last Sunday and it went really well. I was definitely worried since Travis and I wouldn't be getting in the water with him but he did great. He wanted Daddy and I right there but then he got in the water with Shawn (his swim instructor) and did pretty much everything he asked. They kicked, and scooped the water and even saved the ducks from the lazy river! He did not like having water dumped on his head but I figured that just from his reaction to getting his hair washed in the tub:)
Yesterday he had his second lesson and went right off with Shawn and got into the water with him without any hesitation. Travis and I stayed back and just watched from a distance. It just made me think how big Thomas is getting that he can go to swim lessons all by himself. After about 20 minutes he was done but overall he did great! I'm looking forward to seeing how much more comfortable the lessons will make him in the water. I can't wait for the family to be able to get back in our pool when it gets warm out again!

Soup for you!
So Thomas is on a soup kick. Yep, soup. For some reason over the past week or so he hasn't been eating much of anything...except soup. I was making chicken and noodles the other night and he said "no dinner" when I told him no popsicle before dinner. Then when he saw the big pot on the stove he said "ooow soup!" and then it was fine. Now it's to the point that I have to take whatever we're eating, add water and put it in a bowl so that he can have "soup". What a crazy kid!

Potty Training?
Nope, still not interested! Just thought I'd give a little potty training update...unfortunately, there isn't anything to tell! Week before last when we were home for a snow day I put Thomas in a Buzz and Woody pull up (and only because we were almost out of diapers) and told him not to pee on Buzz and Woody. I tried to get him to sit on the potty but he refused. Then he peed on Buzz and Woody and laughed about it!
Then last week Thomas saw "Diego" pull ups at Target and said "DIEGO!!!" and so I thought hmmm...maybe he wouldn't pee on Diego? So I asked him. "Do you want mommy to buy some Diego pull ups for you to wear and then you could go pee pee on the potty?" His reply to me...? "No way, Mama!!" Like it was the craziest thing he had ever heard! Oh well:-)

First experience with Chopsticks
This past weekend we went to Toys R Us or as it's called in our house the "toy store" becuase Thomas had been asking to go forever. He had a blast and I think played with about every toy in the store. We ended buying a new toy storage unit for the basement and a couple tractor and truck DVD's for Thomas.
When we were finally able to get Thomas out of the store it was dinner time and so we decided to try a place called "Stir Crazy". We really enjoyed the experience and Thomas liked it too. He especially liked the chopsticks and refused to eat with anything else. Since the chopsticks were a little hard for him to handle ( heck, I can't even do it!) Dad had to feed him. BTW, Travis is a surprising skilled chopstick user...who knew! Anyway, here are a couple of pictures from dinner.

Yeah, I do!
Thomas has started saying the cutest thing...Whenever we ask him a question he answers "yeah, I do!" It is so cute. For example "Thomas do you want to take a bath?" " Yeah, I do!" "Thomas are you ready for dinner?" "Yeah, I do!" "Thomas did you have fun at Amy's today?" "Yeah, I do!" Regardless of the question the answer is always "Yeah, I do!" and I love it!

bye bye flu
Thomas is feeling so much better, thank goodness. Of course now whenever he wants something and we say no he thinks he can get it by telling us "Thomas sick". It's adorable...he's really trying to play this sickness for all it's worth! For example when we said it was night night time last night he said "no night night, Thomas sick":-)

Pneumonia or the flu??
Well Thomas came home from Gmas and Gpas sick last weekend and it's been a rough ride ever since for the poor kid. He's been running a high fever with a cough and is just miserable. Daddy took him to the doctor Tuesday and they did a breathing treatment and chest x-ray to make sure it wasn't pneumonia. Fortunatley, the chest x-ray was clear-unfortunately that means it's a virus that just needs to "run it's course". The doctor said most likely it's the flu and to just keep him hydrated.
Update: After being home with Daddy on Monday, Daddy (am) and Mommy(pm) on Tuesday, and mommy all day yesterday I think we are on the mend! He actually ate dinner last night and only was up once during the night. The coughing has dramatically decreased and he even played with daddy in the basement a little last night. Hopefully by this weekend he'll be back to his normal crazy, 2 year old self!!

Thomas is going to be a big brother!!
It's official we're pregnant and Thomas is going to be a big brother!! We told him last night and as little of it that he could understand he seemed excited by the news. I think he's most looking forward to mama's belly getting really big:) I put a pillow in my shirt to show him and he thought that was just hilarious! He also asked if he could have a baby in his belly and I had to tell him that only mama's can have baby's in their belly's. Again, just adorable the way his little brain works!

Off to Grandma and Grandpas
Thomas left last night to spend the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Berghoff. I can't believe he is big enough to go spend the weekend with anyone already! What happened to my baby??;) Anyway, after putting him in the carseat (which BTW is now too small) I said " have fun at Grandma and Grandpas. I love you." And he looked at me and said "I love you too, mama". So precious and sweet!!

Apple... "broke"
Just something cute Thomas did last night:
He was eating apples and shredded cheese and Travis saw him setting some of the apple pieces aside. After a bit he asked for "more. apple. please." When I went to get his bowl there were 3 or 4 slices sitting off to the side. I said "honey you've still got some right here". He said "no, broke" and showed me where the center was cut out. It was where I had cut the core out and he wasn't eating them because he thought they were broke! Too cute! Once I told him they weren't broke and were okay to eat he ate away without problem. I just thought it was adorable!

poopy in the potty
Thomas had his first "poopy in the potty" last night! He was in the bathtub and tooted and then laughed (of course). Then suddenly he got a very concerned look on his face and said "poopy"? Dad quickly moved him out of the bath (sopping wet) and onto the toilet and low and behold he did his first poopy in the potty!!! We were so proud and happy we clapped and sang "poopy on the potty" over and over. To celebrate we will be taking him to Red Robin for dinner tonight. Nothing says celebration like sharing a meal with a big red bird! Red Robin...YUM:)
